My love of Sunflowers

Last summer I purchased a lovely bunch of flowers from the local market. There were sunflowers with carnations and some other smaller flowers in the bouquet. I so loved looking at them. It was the kind of bouquet that just makes me happy. So I decided to have some fun and do a grouping of paintings of my purchase. I did two 20″ X 20″ canvases of all of the flowers and one 12″ X 12″ of some of the flowers. All of the paintings featured the sunflowers. I really enjoyed the process and have since sold one of the 20″ X 20″ paintings. I am always tickled to see my paintings bring joy to a new owner.

Keep me away from the nursery

I am also an avid gardener and my husband is always teasing me if I get anywhere near a nursery because I want to see what I can purchase for my flower pots and flower beds in the yard.  So I am never surprised when my exuberance for flowers carries over to my paintings. Since spring has returned to Ohio I have once again caught the flower painting ‘bug’. Recently I started painting some smaller canvases of just a single sunflower. Sunflowers are one of my favorite to paint because of their ‘happy’ countenance.
