‘Atlantis’

I love experimenting with different styles and methods of painting. While landscapes are most often my ‘go to’ style, even within that classification I love creating a variety of types of landscapes from realistic to impressionistic to decorative and even abstracted.

This painting is something of a conglomerate of abstract and landscape. It actually started as something else and I couldn’t seem to make that work so I boldly painted over much of it with these beautiful Matisse acrylic colors: South Ocean Blue and Australian Sienna. To add interest and drama I applied the paint thickly and then used a tool to create texture.

The end result left me feeling that it was a scene of a waterscape or a city scape over water, hence the title.
